Deficit Reduction Commission

In late 2014, the Deficit Reduction Commission was established by Chautauqua County Executive Vince Horrigan to review historic and projected revenues and expenditures of Chautauqua County Government in order to identify options to eliminate a structural deficit.

The commission consisted of two county legislators, the county finance director, and three county residents who possess a broad background of experience in the private sector.

The commission presented the County Executive with its report in January 2015 with short term, mid to long term and extreme response recommendations to close the $5.7 million structural deficit the county will face when preparing a budget in 2016 and beyond.
