JAMESTOWN, N.Y.:--The County of Chautauqua Industrial Development Agency (CCIDA) recently received two awards from the New York State Economic Development Council (NYSEDC) for its leadership and excellence in economic development marketing.

The CCIDA received the 2017 Rural Project of the Year Award for its leadership in recruiting and directing the LECOM Health Challenge to the Peek’n Peak Resort in rural Clymer, N.Y.

The LECOM Health Challenge joined the PGA’s Tour schedule for the first time in 2016. The event attracted PGA hopefuls, raised over $100,000 for charity, and drew more than 20,000 spectators.  Partnering with title sponsor, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM), the 2016 LECOM Health Challenge also put the Peek’n Peak’s upper course on the world stage as the golf tournament appeared on the Golf Channel and NBC Sports.

The CCIDA was also recognized by NYSEDC as a 2017 Marketing, Literature and Promotion Award Winner by receiving Best in Class in Budget Level A for its annual report, On the Move.

The annual report details an initiative created jointly by the CCIDA and the Chautauqua County Department of Planning and Economic Development (CCPED) to strategically create economic development while providing tangible results. The annual report provided a status update on past, current and proposed projects and focuses in areas of industry, tourism, improving natural resources, education, health care, community support and several business success stories realized throughout the year.

Kevin Sanvidge, CCIDA Administrative Director/ Chief Executive Officer, and Richard Dixon, CCIDA Chief Financial Officer, accepted the awards on behalf of the CCIDA at NYSEDC’s annual meeting on May 25, 2017 in Cooperstown, N.Y.

“These awards indicate that Chautauqua County is on the right path moving our economic development platform forward,” said Sanvidge.  “We continue with our philosophy or retaining the businesses we have while also attracting new businesses to our county and placing emphasis on the fast growing tourism industry.”

“I couldn’t be more proud of our entire economic development team and the CCIDA,” said Horrigan. “They are without a doubt getting great results, creating new job opportunities and moving our county on to new heights. It is wonderful to see their efforts recognized as best in class for New York State.”
