MAYVILLE, N.Y.: Effective at 4:30 PM today (Oct. 24, 2017) the Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services has lifted the boil water order in effect since Saturday October 21, 2017 for all customers served by the Village of Fredonia water supply. The affected area included the Village of Fredonia and those water districts in the Town of Pomfret served by Fredonia. Water samples collected on October 21 and 23 from the affected areas show that the water is safe to drink and can now be used for all purposes. The Village had a major water main leak on October 21 that was repaired the same day but due to a loss of pressure in the system, a boil water order was placed into effect as a precaution.
The Chautauqua County Department of Health and Human Services would like to thank all affected water customers for their cooperation and patience while the boil water order was in effect, and commend all those involved in the water emergency for working together to manage the crisis and repair the leak in such a timely manner.
