Chautauqua County Returns The Favor

The Return The Favor Military Veterans' Discount Program is active in Chautauqua County! Honorably discharged military veterans are asked to contact Deputy Clerk Tracie Kaminski Haskin at 753-4977 to schedule an appointment to enroll in the program. Businesses who would like to show their appreciation to our veterans by offering a discount are also asked to contact the Deputy County Clerk.  About the County Clerk

As your County Clerk and keeper of the county records, I am dedicated to providing the information you need in a timely, accurate and professional manner. The office of the County Clerk administers the County Recording Office, serves as the local agent for the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles, as Clerk of the New York State Supreme and County Courts and administers the Bureau of Weights and Measurers. The position of County Clerk is an elected position as provided for by the New York State Constitution and is held for a four year term.

The Chautauqua County Clerk’s staff works hard to assure that you are able to record or file your legal instruments and receive appropriate licenses as swiftly and as reliably as possible. Each county clerk functional area providesservices to the general public. These include recording of deeds and other land-related records, filing of business certificates, court related douments, fishing/hunting license sales and passports. Each employee rightfully takes pride in his or her expertise and attitude of courteous service to all of us needing these necessary and vital services.

The County Clerk’s Office provides important services vital to the quality of life enjoyed by the residents of Chautauqua County. The following services are provided by this office :

Real Property Records
We are the recording office for deeds, mortgages, the discharge of mortgages and many other documents pertaing to real estate.

Online Documents
The Chautauqua County Clerk's office is now ofering online access to documents.  Subscriptions and one-time user options are available.  Please log on to www.searchiqs.com for complete information regarding fees and alist of records available online.

Case files for the Supreme and County Court
(plus related papers): Includes civil, matrimonial, criminal and guardianship cases.

Business Certificates
Filing of DBA (Doing Business As) Certificates and Certificates of Incorporation.

Passports
(An acting) Agent for the U.S. Department of State Passport Agency.

Military Discharges
All servicemen may file their military discharges with the County Clerk(at no charge).

Census Records
We have census records from 1825 to 1925.

Marriage Records
We have marriage records from 1908 to 1935. All other marriage records are kept at the town or city where the marriage license was purchased.

Birth and Death Records  

Birth and Death records are kept at the Town or City clerk's office where the event occurred.
