 Faith Based Initiative Information

F.B.I. in Chautauqua County?
   
   
In May of 2005 an invitation was extended to the faith-based community to join with the Departmentof Social Services to meet the needs of the greater community. That was the
beginning of what is now known as the F.B.I. - Faith Based Initiative of Chautauqua County.

Mission of the FBI:
The Faith Based Community and the Department of Social Services will work together to understand and meet the needs of our community.
   
Goals of the FBI:

Provide education to the community about people who live in "poverty"; Improve networking and communication with all providers/agencies/church/people; For Faith Based Organization to unite together to work along side government and other social service organizations to work on ways to alleviate generational proverty.
Promote working toether between denominations, North and South County; and Identify the gaps in services and try to provide those services to our community.

 Community Partners

The Faith Based Initiative is a collection of Church's and agencies in Chautauqua County working together to help eleviate poverty from our communicites. Networking and collaborations to serve members of our congregations, members of our communities, and members of our families.

There are currentlyl over 20 different Church's that participate in our efforts and around 20 agencies that also contribute to our networking.

Individual members of congragations, leaders in Church's and Community members are all encouraged to participate in our efforts.

Providiing affordable groceries in many communities. Angel Food Ministries is a nationalministry that brings wonderful bargains to communities struggling to feed their families. Available in numerous towns in Chautauqua County.

Rebuilding the Walls of Hope
 
Mentoring Program for individuals in the community. 10 sessions, one-on-one simple mentoring course that can give you the information you need to be successful at your job and in your life. Faith Based Mentoring Program

Bridges Out of Poverty Training
       
Education provided to community members about poverty. There are hidden rules that keep those in poverty from moving out if they choose. Informational trainings offered at your Church or community agency free of charge.

The Underground is a youth ministry that utilizes a Christ-centered approach to help people develop Spiritually, Intellectually, Emotionally, Relationally, and Physically to the end that we become productive in our society and in the Kingdom of God.

Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) brings Christian churches together, across denominational lines, to help the poor by meeting immediate needs such as food and clothing, to longer-term responses through relational ministries such as life skills training and transitional housing.

The Faith Based Initiative Unit can be contacted anytime between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the winter and 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in the summer.
