Educational and youth development programs of character, skills, leadership, and citizenship development, and community service. Physical and mental fitness for boys 6- 20 and girls 14 - 20. Provide outdoor facilities, service center, activities, training, and events.

To inspire and enable all young people to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens. Project Learn, Smart Moves, Torch Club, computer lab, and recreational activites. The after school program provides members with programming from five core areas which are: Sports, Fitness, Recreation, Education / Career and the Arts. Members are offered a variety of fun, yet educational activities and events. Hours: 2:30PM - 6:00PM for 6 - 12 year olds, 3:00PM - 8:00PM for 13 - 18 year olds. Fee is $10.00 per year.

A CAMP WITH YOUTH IN MIND

Camp Gross is a youth camp on 60 acres of woods and wetlands. The camp is open all year for use by any organized youth group. It has 7 rustic cabins and 4 Adirondack open style shelters. Picnic shelters and modern bath house with showers and toilets. Our Mission is to provide the youth of Chautauqua County with an excellent handicap assessable up to date camping facility year round. The camp provides opportunity for study of nature and the environment, swimming, camping, games, sports and fun outdoors. Youth groups provide thier own program, leadership, and insurance. Fees are kept low.

The agency's mission is to improve the "quality of life" for people with disabilities through horseback riding. Goals are for improved physical condition and improved self-esteem. That is accomplished by making friends with non-disabled peers. It is important for non-disabled youth to help volunteer and ride with our handicapped riders. Must be 14 and meet requirements to volunteer, parent permission is required. Riding Lessons $15.00

Acts as an advocate for all county youth under age 21. Assists agencies, organizations, and municipal recreation programs in carrying out their respective endeavors. Provides referral services. The Abstinence Education program uses cooperative, action-oriented games that foster a sense of community and add an element of fun to outreach presentations. These ground-level challenge activities build communication and problem-solving skills and promote teamwork. A motivational outreach program with Youth Bureau Director Donald Reinhoudt is also available to youth groups, schools, and agencies throughout the county.

The Morning / Afternoon Activities Program gives those who attend a sense of belonging, to increase their physical activity, to encourage simple social skills, to increase awareness of negative behavior and to assist in improving academic performance. Program Locations: Washington, Persell, Jefferson Middle Schools, Lakewood, Bush, Love and Ring Elementary Schools. Hours are 7:15 - 8:30 AM and 3:00 - 4:15 PM.

4-H is the youth development program of Cornell Cooperative Extension. 4-H youth development program utilize research-based knowledge of life skill development. Youth can join 4-H Clubs and complete projects ranging from livestock and cooking to leadership and public speaking. 4-H projects are the tools used to teach youth the life skills of responsibility, self confidence, time management, record keeping, effective communication, critical thinking and volunteerism. By participating in fun, hands-on activities, 4-H members will become more competent, contributing members of society. Call for a list of meeting times for different programs. Fee is $3.50/ year for newsletter and insurance. Age group served is 5 - 18.

Provides recreational programs through the year. Programs vary according to the season. Also a recreational facility is available for use by teens and youth groups for roller skating and blading; floor hockey and larger organized events from mid November until early May. Girl Scout programming offers girls the opportunity to experience activities they may otherwise not have the chance to do. Through a fun caring environment girls LEARN core values. Girls learn they can do anything they set their minds to. Girls learn it's OK to stumble, but that doesn't mean you give up. SATURDAY RESPITE

The program is held at the Dunkirk Resource Center location on Lake Shore Drive. Basically a recreational program that gives parents respite. Program plans are driven by the needs and interests of the children. They often volunteer in the community and do fund raisers. Child must have been diagnosed developmentally disabled and live in Chautauqua County with their family. Hours 10AM - 2PM every Saturday. Fee is $1.00 per hour. Lunch is served. For ages 8 - 16.

Healthy snacks, use of assembly room, kitchen, gym, gameroom, dances, field-trips, special events, workshops, group discussions for 9th - 12th graders on Wednesday and Friday nights weekly, and for 6th - 8th graders on Saturdays bi-weekly during the school year. Also, use of rooms on a "drop-in" basis, provided they are not occupied, during normal Y-hours year round. During the summer, students entering 7th - 9th grades have programs on Tuesday nights weekly, and those entering 10th - 12th grades and graduating seniors have programs on Thursday nights weekly.
