Immediate Opening - An application form should be completed and sent to The Chautauqua County Department of Human Resources. These jobs either do not require a competitive civil service examination, or will require a competitive examination after a candidate is selected.
One-time Examination - An examination has been announced with a limited application period. Applications will only be accepted for the duration of the announcement for a scheduled exam date. Continuous Recruitment - Applications for examination are continuously accepted for exams that are held two or more times throughout the year. Click on the job title to view the examination announcement which details the application instructions, subjects of examination and minimum qualifications.
Notice - The Chautauqua County Legislature instituted a new Civil Service Examination Application Fee schedule on October 26, 2011. Most exams announced on or after January 1, 2012 will have a fee of $15.00 and other exams for the uniformed service such as Correction Officer, Deputy Sheriff, Firefighters and Police Officers, etc. will be $25.00. Fee Waiver eligible criteria is available on page 4 of the employment application. You may obtain a current employment application under the Quick Links area of this website.
