MAYVILLE, N.Y. – The Chautauqua County Health Department and the Village of Fredonia will hold a public information panel for Village of Fredonia water customers on Wednesday April 10th at 6:30 PM at the Fredonia Opera House located at 9 Church Street in Fredonia.

Subject matter experts from the Health Department and SUNY Fredonia will offer knowledge and expertise beginning with a presentation describing Fredonia’s existing water system, including information about the Fredonia Reservoir, the Fredonia water treatment plant and the role Chautauqua County Health Department plays in regulating the system.

The panel will include:

  • Chautauqua County Health Department staff
    • Jessica Wuerstle, Director of Environmental Health
    • Natalie Whiteman, Senior Water Resource Specialist
  • SUNY Fredonia faculty
    • Dr. Courtney Wigdahl-Perry, Associate Professor
    • Dr. Matthew Lanning, Assistant Professor

The presenters plan to provide attendees with a better understanding of the existing Fredonia water system and the areas within the system that require immediate and ongoing attention.  Drs. Wigdhal-Perry and Lanning are currently involved in research projects on Fredonia Reservoir and are familiar with structure and history of the Fredonia Reservoir.

Following the presentation, the public is welcome to submit questions to the panel on index cards.  Presenters will answer questions as time allows.  The presenters will not be able to address specific questions regarding recent votes taken by the Village of Fredonia Board members or the specific finances referenced in the recent LaBella Engineering report as those topics are not under the regulation of Chautauqua County Health Department or within the scope of SUNY research efforts.

Those unable to attend the information panel in person can watch the county's YouTube page.
